Dr. Rhonda L. Hamilton is a proud Washingtonian.
I am an Independent, but most importantly I am a humanitarian. Voting for me should not be about party, but about humanity. I am a leader who will always care about the people.
As a small business owner for more than 20 years, daughter of a courageous military veteran, and a mental health advocate, I know the value of community.
The Nation’s Capital is home to some of the greatest citizens, workers, and business owners. There is no reason why we can’t set higher standards in our governing, to assure healthier living outcomes. As DC’s next mayor I will fight to positively impact District residents’ family values, and well-being. DC citizens deserve access to safe, sustainable, and efficient law making as well as policy enforcement.
Housing Stability
As a housing and mental health advocate I know that housing is healthcare.
I intend to address the root causes of housing instability to assure that DC tax payers and the federal government dollars are not continuously exposed to failed social programming structures surrounding housing displacement, which dominoes into failed public safety, and increased healthcare costs.
Healthcare Outcomes
The healthcare disparities that exist in the Nation’s Capital have created barriers for citizens living with chronic disease, higher mortality rates, declining quality of life, untreated mental health issues, and diminishing social determinants of health. I will work to reverse the challenges across DC’s healthcare systems to assure access to comprehensive care models for all of its citizens by raising the standard of care and by investing in preventative, holistic, and patient focused practices.
Public Safety
District residents deserve to have an enhanced sense of security and access to safer public spaces for a more vibrant community, school, and work life. I will work effortlessly to identify and address strained community and law enforcement relationships, citizen safety concerns, failed youth advancement investments, robust gun violent and drug activities, with a multi-faceted and crime prevention approach that includes the proper staffing of all government applicable agencies, unbiased enforcement of the law, and community safety initiatives.
Budget Reform
The needs and priorities of the community must be appropriately aligned with the responsible allocation of funding while also eliminating waste, and spending inefficiencies.
I will engage stakeholders in budget discussions to help foster transparency and accountability to ensure a more inclusive approach that reflects the voices of DC citizens. Long term economic sustainability with social equity commitments will lead to a healthier and more prosperous DC.
Economic Disparities
Addressing DC’s wealth gap disparity can healthily be achieved with the collaboration of governmental, private sector, and corporate commitments to creating sustainable solutions that will provide equitable access to education, skilled trades, job opportunities with livable wages, home ownership, and small business support. Small business owners in DC have employed approximately 48% of DC’s workforce, and thus their impact on DC’s local economy will be preserved and supported in my administration.
Investments in Youth
I am committed to prioritizing the positive development of DC’s youth population. As the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers they must have access to quality education, mentorship, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
I will invest in root cause solutions and partner with community and corporate resources to ensure that DC youth realize their true potential and contributions to society as well as DC’s success.
Unification of DC
DC citizens, and families are uniquely connected by their continued endurance of “taxation without representation”. The presence of high crime, economic disparities, and unhealthy governing practices has hindered the ability to cultivate an environment where everyone can thrive collectively.
As a mental health advocate I am concerned for our society of DC citizens that are not actively participating in the existence of shared values, collaborative activities, open communication, and mutual respect of one another’s sense of belonging and need to feel supported.
As a leader I know that we are stronger together and the absence of participation from so many DC citizens in the voting and election processes warrant that a leader such as myself, works to bridge the divides, and help to unify DC families and communities around the ideals of democracy, social stability, “village-minded” protections and oversight for DC youth.
Small Business Durability
DC is filled with passionate entrepreneurs who are deeply committed to their communities even in challenging times. As DC’s next mayor, I will leverage the resilience and vitality of the DC small business community to help stabilize my investments in public safety, youth engagement, and economic growth.
As a small business veteran and owner I will foster viable and sustainable relationships with my fellow DC small businesses to assure that the DC economy is strong during and beyond my leadership of the city.
